Silquest Y-15866 Silane is a proprietary vinyl-functional silane that offers hydrolysis rates similar to vinyltrimethoxysilane, but is not based on methanol. Additionally, both Silquest Y-15866 Silane and its hydrolysis products offer substantially lower volatility than vinyltrimethoxysilane.

As a vinyl-functional silane, Silquest Y-15866 Silane is an excellent candidate for use as a moisture scavenger in hybrid sealant technology (e.g. SPUR+* prepolymer systems), latex modification and wherever a more common vinyl silane may be used.
