OPTIMAL PLASTIC ADHESION
A primary amino silane, Silquest A-1110 silane is an excellent candidate for use as an adhesion promoter in silane-modified urethanes (such as SPUR + * prepolymer), filled silicone, epoxy and sealants. Silquest A-1110 silane has also been utilized as an adhesion promoter in two-part urethane system, demonstrating an excellent bond to glass, metal and many difficult plastics, such as PVC, polystyrene and nylon. It has also been utilized on the polyol side of a two-part urethane adhesive or sealant to enhance wet adhesion. In one-part systems, Silquest A-1110 silane can also be considered as an endcapper in polyurethane resins, enabling an isocyanate-free moisture cure crosslinking mechanism.
Having features such as its amino functionality, Silquest A-1110 silane can provide multiple benefits. Not only has it demonstrated fast amino reactivity with isocyanate functional polymers, but also with epoxies, phenolics and acrylics, among others, and catalyzes silane reactivity. With its trimethoxy silane functionality, Silquest A-1110 silane can bond well to inorganic-containing substrates to provide excellent wet and dry adhesion and fast cure rates. Displaying soluble properties across a wide range of organic solvents, Silquest A-1110 silane can form a water-soluble blend of silane triol when dissolved in water.
Silquest A-1110 silane also can be considered in two-part epoxy-based systems to enhance wet adhesion, where its primary amino functionality may can act as a hardening agent.
