HIGH-HEAT ADHESION
Silquest Y-9669 silane is a versatile and extremely effective adhesion promoter for many filled and reinforced resin systems. Particularly effective for resin systems that react with a secondary amino group, Silquest Y-9669 silane is good at helping to create materials that can withstand high temperatures.
Silane blends can be used to increase the thermal stability of a silane for use in formulating high-temperature polymers. Combining phenyl and amino functionality in the same molecule is what makes Silquest Y-9669 silane so versatile - especially in resin systems that react with a secondary amino group like isocyanates, acrylates, epoxies, phenolics and RTV silicones. Silquest Y-9669 silane is at its best when used to create a material that can withstand high temperatures, such as in phenolic resin/fiberglass composites.
The outstanding high-temperature performance of Silquest Y-9669 silane was demonstrated by the improvement in durability of a glass-fiber-reinforced phenolic resin laminate. In testing, composites prepared with Silquest Y-9669 silane maintained superior flexural strength even after prolonged exposure at 500° F compared to composites prepared with another silane.
Potential applications for Silquest Y-9669 silane include:
