EXCELLENT FLOW, REDUCED SURFACE VOIDS
Niax silicone L-6642 is a versatile silicone candidatefor use in rigid foams blown with hydrocarbons, formic acid, HFOs and mixtures of these blowing agents. Combining excellent polyols compatibilisation and good flow, it can help deliver foams with fine and homogeneous cells and very good surface quality.
Niax silicone L-6642 typically offers a wide range of benefits including the production of rigid polyurethane foams. Generally, compatible with formulations using hydrocarbons and water as a co-blowing agent, this silicone copolymer can accommodate the manufacture of foam using the continuous lamination process. Its intrinsic nature enables very good stability in acid environments, making it an excellent candidate to consider in the discontinuous applications where formic acid and HFO are often used as blowing agents, alone or in combination between them and/or with hydrocarbons. Niax silicone L-6642 can also help improve compatibility between polyol and isocyanates, including recycled polyester polyol, making it an excellent candidate for use in block production, where low mixing energy is provided to the reacting foam.
By, Niax silicone L-6642 can enable reduced cell coalescence and improved foam flow on substrates to help minimize the formation of surface voids - making it an excellent candidate for fixed-gap lamination with a fixed or traversing head, as well as discontinuous applications. This benefit can typically be observed at usage levels of 2.0 php, and may become more prominent at increased levels.
While promoting a fine cell structure, this silicone agent can also help reduce foam anisotropy, and in turn improve compressive strength and dimensional stability. This feature typically makes it useful in block and free rise lamination processing methods.
Potential applications for Niax silicone L-6642 include:
Niax L-6642 may also improve compatibility between polyols and isocyanates, for this reason it is an excellent candidate in block production, where longer reaction profiles are used.
